The bank, in its stock exchange filing, said that, based on the recommendations of the Governance, Nomination and Remuneration Committee, it approved the appointment of Jigar Shah as general counsel–designate, effective August 20, 2026, and as general counsel, effective October 1, 2026.
An alumnus of the University of Leicester and the University of Law (London), Shah had worked at Deutsche Bank in multiple jurisdictions, including as head of corporate banking and securities for India. In 2013, he joined JPMorgan Chase & Co. as managing director and head of legal for India, and subsequently joined KKR in 2018.

“Jigar Shah has over three decades of experience across legal, compliance, governance and regulatory matters in the banking and financial services sector,” said the bank in its regulatory filing.
“He has been associated with Elmcroft Consulting Services, where he led complex asset workout, restructuring and recovery mandates for a leading NBFC platform. Prior to Elmcroft Consulting Services, he was the Managing Director at KKR India, where he served as Head of Legal & Compliance and was a member of the India Leadership Team. He was also a Whole-Time Executive Director and Business Leader for KKR India Financial Services,” said the bank.
