Country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp said it will invest ₹1,500 crore in the current financial year (FY27) to enhance its product portfolio, especially in scooters and electric vehicle (EV) brand–Vida.
The company said it strengthened its portfolio with nine ‘impactful launches’ and multiple key refreshers both in internal combustion engine (ICE) as well as EV portfolio. The company has a strong line-up in both motorcycle and scooter ranges, and all of these have led to market share gain in 100cc, 110cc in both ICE and EVs.
“We have grown across 100cc, 110cc, ICE and EV scooters, global business and as I mentioned even in the Harley Davidson range – 400 to 500cc range where we play. Going forward our investment will continue in these segments. We are investing in capacity expansion, and we have committed over ₹1,500 crore of capex in FY27 and this capex is going to expand our capacity in scooters where some of our models are doing very well,” Harshavaradhan Chitale, Chief Executive Officer, Hero MotoCorp, said in a post earnings call with analysts.
To double capacity
He said the company was doubling its capacity and in EV, in fact in a matter of a month, it will double the capacity from where it started last year as it sees growth momentum for its Vida brand. Vida achieved its highest-ever annual retail sales of 1,51,748 lakh units in FY26, registering a 2.9x jump (around 190 per cent growth) over FY25.
“We are also making significant investment in building a second parts centre, which is going to help in further expansion of our parts and accessories business. We have committed over ₹700 crore of investment in building out of global parts centre in South of India. Second kind of investment that we are going to continue doing is in brand building,” Chitale added.
On May 5 (Tuesday), Hero MotoCorp had posted highest-ever revenue and profits for both the Q4 FY26 ended March 31, and for the full financial year (FY). The company reported a consolidated net profit of ₹1,460 crore in the Q4 FY26, up 26 per cent year-on-year (YoY) as compared with ₹1,161.33 crore in the corresponding period previous fiscal.
Consolidated revenue from operations rose by 30.17 per cent YoY to ₹12,978.28 crore for the quarter in review, compared with ₹9,969.81 crore in Q4 FY25.
On the full year basis, Hero MotoCorp reported a growth of 31.13 per cent in consolidated net profit to ₹5,741.73 crore in FY26 compared with ₹4,378.48 crore in FY25. Similarly, consolidated revenue from operations grew by around 16 per cent YoY to ₹47,411.24 crore compared with ₹40,923.42 crore in FY25.
The company sold 64.69 lakh units of motorcycles and scooters sold in FY26 – a growth of 10 per cent over the previous year.
