Hyundai Motor India faces temporary production disruption due to fire at supplier facility in TN

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) on Monday said the company faces temporary production disruption due to a fire incident at one of its supplier’s facility in Tamil Nadu.

In a regulatory filing, the company informed regarding the fire incident at one of the manufacturing facilities of its supplier, Mobis India Ltd (Mobis), at Irrungattukottai, Kancheepuram District of Tamil Nadu, in the late afternoon of May 31, 2026.

The fire incident is expected to cause a “temporary disruption” to the company’s production operations, although no fatalities have been reported, and vehicle supplies to customers remain unaffected, the filing added.

The affected Mobis facility supplies audio components and certain other automotive parts to Hyundai Motor India.

The automaker said teams from both companies are working together to assess the situation and determine the extent of the damage caused by the incident.

“The above facility of Mobis supplies audio components and a few other automotive parts to the company. The company and Mobis teams are working closely to assess the situation and extent of damage to the Mobis facility.

“This incident will result in a temporary disruption to the company’s production. However, alternative sourcing and supply continuity measures are being actively explored to minimise the operational impact. There is sufficient vehicle inventory in our dealer network to take care of the customer demand,” Hyundai Motor India said.
