India’s equity mutual fund inflows
rose to a five-month high of ₹38,307 crore ($4 billion)
in September, as domestic investors continued to buy stocks
despite the market’s underperformance versus global peers in
2026.
Total equity mutual fund inflows jumped about 31%
month-on-month. Small-cap and mid-cap inflows gained 12% and
13%, as they grew record monthly investments of ₹7,845 crore and 90.39 billion rupees, according to data from the
Association of Mutual Funds in India on Monday.
The sustained domestic flows highlight the growing role of
retail and institutional investors in cushioning Indian markets.
While the Nifty 50 has fallen about 14.4% so far
this year, steady SIP contributions and mutual-fund buying have
helped offset foreign selling and supported valuations,
particularly in the broader market.
