IndiGo passengers will now have to pay more for several add-on services, with the airline on Thursday announcing higher charges for excess baggage, infant travel, unaccompanied minors and priority check-in and boarding.
According to the sources, the latest revision is part of IndiGo’s routine process of reviewing and updating charges for ancillary services.
Under the revised fee structure, IndiGo has increased its excess baggage charge from Rs 700 per kg to Rs 800 per kg, adding Rs 100 to the cost for every extra kilogram.
The higher fee will apply to passengers carrying luggage beyond their permitted baggage allowance.
The airline has also raised the fee for infants aged between three days and two years. The charge has gone up from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000.
Under the arrangement, infants are not allotted a separate seat, but passengers are still required to book a ticket for them.
Charges for the unaccompanied minor service have also been revised. For domestic flights, the fee for children aged between five and 12 years travelling without an accompanying adult has increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 5,999.
On international flights, the unaccompanied minor service will cost Rs 12,999.
The airline has also increased the price of its Fast Forward service, which provides passengers with priority check-in and boarding.
The fee has been raised from Rs 500 to Rs 650, while the charge for international flights stands at Rs 850 per sector.
