The country’s largest multi utility vehicles maker, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) on Tuesday said it sold 59,257 vehicles in August, up 50 per cent year-on-year (y-o-y) as compared with 39,399 units in the same month last year.
The company said demand continues to remain strong across its portfolio, and it expects it to continue during the festive season.
“In August, we achieved SUV sales of 59,257 units delivering growth of 50%l per cent, and total vehicle sales stood at 1,07,648, a 42 per cent YoY growth. Demand continues to remain strong across our portfolio, with the updated Scorpio-N and BE 6 SPORTEQ receiving strong market response from customers. We look forward to building on this momentum during the festive season,” Velusamy R President, Automotive Business, M&M said.
Meanwhile, JSW MG Motor India said it has achieved 14 per cent y-o-y growth in August 2026 with sales of 7,508 wholesale (dispatches to dealers) units.
In August, the company launched the MG Hector Tomahawk, its first SUV built on ADAPT, India’s first Multi-New Energy Vehicle platform. Available in both electric vehicle (EV) and plug‑in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain options, the Hector Tomahawk offers customers greater flexibility to meet diverse mobility needs.
In the two-wheelers segment, Bajaj Auto reported dispatches of 2,01,898 units during the month, 10 per cent up y-o-y as compared with 1,84,109 units in August 2025.
