The much-awaited initial public offering (IPO) of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) could hit the market later this month, with the nearly Rs 30,000-crore issue likely to open for subscription on September 18, according to a PTI report citing sources. However, NSE has not officially announced the IPO dates, price band or issue details yet.
According to the report, the and remain open for subscription on September 18, September 21 and September 22. The exchange could make its stock market debut on September 25.
The price band is expected to be announced on September 15, followed by the anchor book on September 17, PTI reported.
Separately, Reuters reported that NSE is likely to price its IPO at Rs 1,700 to Rs 1,785 per share, citing a source familiar with the matter. The source did not wish to be identified as they were not authorised to speak to the media.
Here is everything that has been reported so far about the NSE IPO 2026, including the expected IPO date, price band, issue size and listing date.
According to the PTI report, the NSE IPO is likely to open for public subscription on September 18, 2026.
The issue is expected to remain open on September 18, September 21 and September 22. The NSE IPO listing date is likely to be September 25, according to sources cited by PTI.
These dates have not yet been officially confirmed by the National Stock Exchange.
Reuters reported that the NSE IPO price band is likely to be Rs 1,700-Rs 1,785 per share.
At the upper end of Rs 1,785, NSE would be valued at around Rs 4.4 lakh crore ($46.41 billion), according to Reuters.
However, the price band has not been officially announced. PTI reported that NSE is expected to announce the price band on September 15, before opening the anchor book on September 17.
Therefore, investors should treat the Rs 1,700-Rs 1,785 range as a reported indication and not the final NSE IPO price band.
The NSE IPO is expected to be worth nearly Rs 30,000 crore, according to PTI.
At that size, the issue could rank among India’s largest IPOs. Reuters also reported that the long-awaited NSE listing could become one of India’s biggest public offerings.
The exchange could be valued at around Rs 4.4 lakh crore at the upper end of the reported price range, making NSE one of India’s largest companies by market capitalisation.
NSE may offer around 5.5% of its total equity capital in the IPO, Reuters reported, citing a Bloomberg News report.
The stake being offered could therefore be lower than the 6% originally planned, according to the report.
The final offer size and shareholding structure will need to be confirmed through NSE’s official IPO documents.
The NSE share listing is likely to take place on September 25, according to the PTI report.
Reuters had earlier reported that NSE was targeting a stock market listing in the week beginning September 21.
The exact listing date, however, remains subject to official confirmation.
The NSE is India’s dominant equity derivatives exchange and is also the world’s most-active derivatives exchange by contracts traded, according to Reuters.
Its IPO has been highly anticipated for years, making it one of the most closely watched potential listings in India’s capital markets.
If the reported valuation of around Rs 4.4 lakh crore is achieved, NSE would rank among India’s largest listed companies by market capitalisation.
The NSE IPO grey market premium (GMP) stood at Rs 228 on September 9, according to the data provided.
The GMP has remained volatile in recent days, rising to Rs 310 on September 5 before falling to Rs 273 on September 6 and Rs 221 on September 7.
It then recovered to Rs 257 on September 8 before declining to Rs 228 on September 9. Since the IPO price band is yet to be announced, the GMP currently cannot be used to calculate an estimated listing price or potential percentage gain.
