Parle Industries shares jump 5% after PM Modi gifts Melody to Italy PM Giorgia Meloni

Parle Industries shares rose sharply on Tuesday after Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted a pack of Melody toffees to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during his visit to Italy, triggering a fresh social media frenzy around the popular “Melodi” trend.

Shares of Parle Industries jumped 5% intraday to Rs 5.25. The stock was also up nearly 7% over the past one week.

However, despite today’s rise, the stock remains under pressure over the longer term. Parle Industries shares are still down around 41% in three months, 46% in six months and over 68% in the past one year.



The rally came after a light-hearted video featuring

In the clip shared on social media, PM Modi was seen gifting a packet of Melody candies to Meloni, seemingly playing on the viral “#Melodi” phrase that internet users often use while referring to the two leaders together.

Meloni later shared the video on X and wrote, “Thank you for the gift.”

In the video, she was also heard saying, “He gifted… a very, very good toffee,” after which both leaders laughed.

The moment quickly caught attention online, with the clip gathering close to a million views within a short span along with thousands of reactions and comments.

The viral moment also pushed Melody back into online discussions, with many users sharing memes and nostalgic posts around the popular candy brand.
