Reliance Retail Limited (RRL) announced on Thursday the acquisition of Anomaly, the haircare brand founded by actor and entrepreneur Priyanka Chopra Jonas, taking full ownership of the brand’s trademarks, digital assets, and intellectual property.
The deal expands Reliance Retail’s beauty portfolio and gives it control over a brand that has built distribution across several international markets since its launch in 2021. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Anomaly, positioned as a clean, vegan, high-performance haircare range at accessible price points, will now be scaled through Reliance Retail’s network of over 20,000 stores and its digital commerce platform Tira. The company said India will be the priority market, with product innovation focused on Indian hair and scalp needs. International expansion in North America, the United Kingdom, and the Middle East is also planned.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas will remain associated with the brand in a new capacity as Creative Director, overseeing innovation, brand vision, and product development.
Isha Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, described the acquisition as a strategic step in building a portfolio of high-growth beauty brands, citing Anomaly’s global positioning and clean formulation philosophy as key factors.
Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, the parent entity, operates across grocery, consumer electronics, fashion and lifestyle, and pharma segments. It reported a consolidated turnover of ₹3,70,026 crore and EBITDA of ₹27,033 crore for the financial year ended March 31, 2026, and has a registered customer base of over 387 million.
The acquisition reflects a broader push by Reliance Retail to deepen its presence in the fast-growing beauty and personal care segment in India, combining its retail scale with established consumer brands.
