SAEL unveils integrated 5GW solar cell, module manufacturing facility at Jewar

SAEL Industries is setting up an integrated 5 gigawatt (GW) solar module and cell manufacturing facility at Jewar in Uttar Pradesh, which was unveiled by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The groundbreaking of the integrated solar manufacturing facility, being developed through its subsidiary SAEL Solar P6 (SSP6PL), was held on Saturday at Jewar in the presence of the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister.

“Today, the transformation is clearly visible. I landed at Jewar Airport. Domestic commercial flights have already started from there, and international flights will commence soon. The foundation has been laid for an electronic components and electronic circuit manufacturing project with an investment of approximately ₹7,000 crore. Similarly, the foundation has also been laid for a modern solar cell manufacturing unit at a cost of ₹8,200 crore,” the chief minister said.

This will make Gautam Buddha Nagar a major centre for electronics and solar manufacturing. There was a time when this area was considered the most dangerous region of the state. People were afraid to come here after evening, he added.

Sukhbir Singh, Co-founder of SAEL Industries, said, “With an initial investment of ₹8,200 crore, we are establishing a 5 GW solar cell and 5 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Jewar. This is not merely an investment in infrastructure; it is India’s investment in its own energy self-reliance.”

Today, Uttar Pradesh is one of India’s fastest-growing states, marching confidently towards its $1 trillion economy goal, and SAEL is proud to be part of that journey, he added.

“Spanning across 200 acres in Sector 8 of the YEIDA (Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority), Gautam Buddha Nagar, the facility is being developed as an integrated 5 GW solar cell and 5 GW solar module manufacturing unit,” SAEL said.

Once operational, this 10 GW solar manufacturing ecosystem will contribute towards India’s growing domestic industrial capabilities. The project supports Uttar Pradesh’s goal of attracting major manufacturing investments and shows the state’s growing role as a hub for clean energy industries, it added.

Laxit Awla, CEO & Executive Director of SAEL Industries, said, “The Jewar project reflects SAEL’s confidence in India’s renewable energy future and in Uttar Pradesh’s emergence as a premier manufacturing destination.”

As demand for domestically manufactured solar products continues to grow, this facility will strengthen the resilience of India’s solar supply chain while creating significant economic value for the region. By integrating large-scale solar cell and module manufacturing at a single location, SAEL is building capabilities that will serve as a solid example of vertical integration in the solar sector, he added.

This facility is expected to create 5,000 direct jobs and 15,000 indirect jobs and contribute significantly to regional economic development through industrial activity, ancillary industries, and infrastructure growth.

On completion, the facility will manufacture high-efficiency solar cells and TOPCon modules using advanced technologies to support India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy sector.
