Scimplify, a science-first manufacturing company focused on advanced materials and specialty chemicals, has raised $25 million in a strategic funding round led by Hitachi Ventures, with participation from Teknor Apex, Henkel and a Japanese chemical giant.
Existing investors Accel, Bertelsmann India Investments, 3one4 Capital and Omnivore also participated in the round, doubling down on their investment in the company. With the latest round, Scimplify has raised $80 million across these disclosed rounds.
The company will deploy the capital to expand its technical and manufacturing capabilities, with a focus on rare earth and critical metals purification and processing, and semiconductor and battery chemicals.
The investment will support research facilities staffed by scientists and process engineers, processing facilities, an expanded manufacturing partner network, and further development of SciNode, Scimplify’s AI platform for synthesis route prediction, factory production simulation, and coordinating R&D, quality, sourcing and regulatory workflows.
The funding comes at a time when the advanced materials ecosystem continues to face a significant gap between material innovation and commercial-scale manufacturing.
While new materials for applications such as batteries, semiconductors, energy infrastructure and life sciences can be developed in laboratories, translating those discoveries into reliable, qualified production remains a major challenge.
Founded in 2023 by Sachin Santhosh, Salil Srivastava, Dheeraj Dhingra and Hersh Manek, Scimplify was built to address this gap by bringing process development and manufacturing together as a single system.
Rather than developing new materials itself, the company works with innovators that have already proven a material in the lab but lack a reliable path to production.
Sachin Santhosh, Co-founder at Scimplify, “The future is being invented faster than the world can manufacture it. Global innovators need more than factories – they need deep technical expertise and the ability to manufacture complex materials at scale. That’s what we’re building, with India at the center.”
Radhika Ananth, Managing Director of India at Hitachi Ventures, “Specialty chemicals demand has outgrown the models built to serve it. India has the manufacturing capacity, but much of it sits underused, without the science and quality systems global customers require. We believe Scimplify is building the platform that closes this gap. In under three years, it has served customers in more than 40 countries, and over 40 per cent of its portfolio is already in advanced materials for semiconductors, batteries and critical minerals, areas central to Hitachi’s own businesses.”
The company operates R&D facilities in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, backed by its SciNode software platform.
US expansion will initially focus on chemistries where domestic processing capabilities remain limited, including rare earth and critical metals purification and processing, and semiconductor and battery chemicals at high purities.
Scimplify will build physical processing capabilities in the US while simultaneously qualifying American manufacturing partners that can support technology transfer, pilot and validation batches.
Scimplify’s current customers include Henkel, Coromandel, Dr Reddy’s, Coherent, Holcim, BASF, Sanyo, Marubeni, TDK, Mankind Pharma. The company expects its expanded US capabilities to support its next phase of growth, as it builds deeper capabilities across critical materials and advanced manufacturing.
