SEBI approves Upma Chawdhry as MSE Governing Board chairperson

The Metropolitan Stock Exchange of India (MSE) said on Friday, that the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has approved the appointment of Upma Dada Chawdhry as the Chairperson of its Governing Board.

Prior to taking on this role, Chawdhry served as a Public Interest Director at the exchange.

She brings more than 35 years of extensive administrative and governance expertise to the position. A 1983-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, she has previously retired as a Secretary to the Government of India.

Her career spans crucial sectors including finance, public sector reforms, education and women’s empowerment. In 2016, she became the first woman Director of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration.

Welcoming the appointment, Latika S Kundu, Managing Director & CEO of MSE, stated that Chawdhry’s public service legacy and deep governance expertise will provide immense strength to the exchange. She added that this guidance arrives at a pivotal phase as MSE continues to advance its vision of building a transparent, innovative, and inclusive market infrastructure institution.

MSE holds licenses from SEBI to operate across equity, equity derivatives, currency derivatives and debt segments.
