Tata Motors secures No.2 position in April passenger vehicle sales

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has secured the number two position in monthly sales with domestic wholesales (dispatches to dealers) of 59,000 units in April, up 30.5 per cent year-on-year (YoY) as compared with 45,199 units in April 2025.

In the overall domestic wholesales, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M) was crowned number two position for financial year 2025-26 (FY26).

In April sales, M&M reported domestic wholesales of 56,331 units, a growth of 8 per cent YoY as compared with 52,330 units in the same month last year.

“The year 2027 has begun on a positive note in April by achieving SUV sales of 56,331 units, a growth of 8 per cent and total vehicle sales of 94,627 (including commercial vehicles and three-wheelers) units, a 14 per cent growth over the same month last year,” Nalinikanth Gollagunta, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, M&M, said.

Meanwhile, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) said it has achieved monthly domestic wholesales of 51,902 units last month, the highest-ever for any April, and a healthy YoY growth of 17 per cent as compared with 44,374 units in April 2025.

“We have opened the new financial year on a strong note, carrying forward the momentum built in recent months into April 2026. With monthly domestic sales of 51,902 units, Hyundai Motor India has achieved its highest-ever April domestic sales, registering a robust 17 per cent year-on-year growth,” Tarun Garg, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, HMIL, said.



Similarly, Kia India also announced its highest-ever sales for the month of April since inception, with wholesale volumes of 27,286 units, marking a 16 per cent YoY growth over 23,623 units sold in April 2025.

“Our highest-ever April performance builds on the steady growth we have seen over the past several months. This momentum is being led by the new Kia Seltos, with Sonet and Carens along with Clavis continuing to strengthen our presence across key segments through ongoing enhancements. The expansion of our service network further reflects our focus on improving accessibility and delivering seamless ownership experience to customers,” Atul Sood, Senior Vice-President, Sales & Marketing, Kia India, said.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reported a YoY growth of 21 per cent YoY in its domestic wholesales to 30,159 units during the month as against 24,833 units in the corresponding month last year.

JSW MG Motor India reported a YoY growth of 3.2 per cent YoY to 6,018 units in April as compared with 5,829 units in the same month last year.

‘Triber’ maker, Renault India said it has registered YoY growth of 108 per cent in April 2026 with domestic wholesales of 5,413 units, against 2,602 units sold in April 2025.
