TN government signs MoU worth ₹18,600 crore with L&T

The Tamil Nadu government on Thursday signed an MoU with Larsen & Toubro for three new major projects in the State that will bring investment worth ₹18,600 crore and generate employment for around 8,200 people. This is first major MoU that the newly elected government under Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam had had signed since coming to power.

The MoU was signed by K G Sathyanarayanan, Head, Initiatives, Development Cell, L&T Construction and Alarmel Mangai, Executive Director, Guidance Tamil Nadu in the presence of Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay and SN Subrahmanyan, CMD, L&T Ltd.

The three projects are an Electronics manufacturing hub in Coimbatore at an investment of ₹2,500 crore; Hyperscale & Edge AI Data Centre in Kancheepuram, establishing the next digital corridor beyond Chennai at ₹15,000 crore and in offshore wind Infrastructure at Kattupalli, accelerating Tamil Nadu’s infrastructure leadership at ₹1,100 crore, says a government release.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at the Secretariat. L&T Chairman and Managing Director S.N. Subrahmanyan met the Chief Minister and discussed the company’s ongoing and future investments in the State.

These investments that are aligned with the Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay’s vision of transforming Tamil Nadu into a $1.5 trillion economy by 2036, strengthen the State’s digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence ecosystem while ensuring employment opportunities for the youth of Tamil Nadu, says a government release.
