Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power, has commissioned its 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project in Maharashtra’s Dharashiv district, taking its total renewable utility capacity to 11.6 GW. Power generated from the project will be supplied to Tata Power Mumbai Distribution, and will help the utility meet its renewable purchase obligation (RPO) targets, stated the company in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges. The project comprises 28 SG 3.6-145 wind turbine generators, and is expected to generate around 299 million units of clean electricity annually, while offsetting nearly 245 million kg of carbon dioxide emissions every year.
With the commissioning of the Jewali project, TPREL’s wind portfolio has crossed 3.9 GW, including over 1.3 GW of operational capacity, with the remaining projects under various stages of development across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
