Waaree Transpower Private Limited, a subsidiary of ., announced on Tuesday a ₹192 crore investment to set up a 500 MVA, 400 kV transformer manufacturing facility, expanding its high-voltage production capabilities to meet rising demand from India’s power and renewable energy sectors.
The new plant is scheduled to become operational by April 2027. Once commissioned, the facility will allow Waaree Transpower to serve customers across 132 kV, 220 kV, and 400 kV voltage classes, enabling the company to bid for larger and technically complex power infrastructure contracts.
The expansion is driven by accelerating electricity demand and the need for stronger transmission infrastructure to integrate utility-scale renewable energy and battery storage into the national grid. The company said the new facility will complement its existing manufacturing base and broaden its presence across the power infrastructure value chain.
Waaree Transpower currently holds an order book of approximately ₹360 crore for execution during FY 2026–27, which the company described as a foundation for its next phase of growth.
Viren Doshi, Director at Waaree Energies Limited, said the investment reflects long-term confidence in India’s power infrastructure growth and the increasing need for high-voltage transformation capacity as renewable energy deployment scales up.
The company, formerly known as KOTSONS, specialises in power and distribution transformers, with a focus on inverter duty transformers used in solar energy applications. The new capacity is part of a broader strategy to build a diversified electrical infrastructure business targeting renewable energy, battery energy storage systems, and grid infrastructure.
Waaree Energies shares closed at ₹2,588 on the NSE on Tuesday, down 0.65 per cent from the previous session, against a 52-week high of ₹3,865.
