IAI–DCX radar facility groundbreaking held in Tamil Nadu

The groundbreaking ceremony for a new radar manufacturing facility at Shoolagiri Industrial Area in Tamil Nadu took place on Tuesday, ensuring the roll-out of a defence partnership between Israel Aerospace Industries’ (IAI) ELTA Systems and Bengaluru-based DCX Systems Ltd.

Construction of the facility is expected to be completed by April 2027, with production planned to commence shortly thereafter, IAI said in a statement. Once operational, it will enhance capabilities in surveillance and threat detection while contributing to the development of a robust local ecosystem through collaboration with suppliers, startups and academic institutions, the Israeli company stated.

The facility is designed with scalable infrastructure and will operate under stringent quality and security standards to meet evolving operational requirements. Through ELTX Systems, the partnership aims to support various armed forces programs.

The joint venture of the both the companies, ELTX Systems Private Limited, is designed to serve as a center for the manufacturing, integration and testing of advanced radar systems, supporting both domestic and international defense requirements, said the statement.

It will significantly strengthen India’s indigenous design, development and production capabilities, the statement read.



ELTX Systems is designed to enable the transfer of knowledge and advanced technologies of high-end defense systems, including airborne radars and ground-based systems.
